In 2016 we had the pleasure of filming a recipe segment for FOX News. Our turkey biryani is a great alternate to any main dish at holiday party.
"For poutine in a pinch, Desi Galli is the place to go–or better yet, order on Postmates or Seamless. Inspired by co-owner PriaVanda Chouhan’s childhood in Montreal, the Indian street food spot includes desi poutine, a South Asian twist on the French-Canadian staple. It’s pretty light (well, relatively speaking) and will leave you feeling a little less loaded than traditional takes."

Happy Holi from the Desi Galli Team!
Holi is one of Hinduism’s least religious holidays but also very entertaining. It celebrates the arrival of spring. Festival of Colors (common name for Holi) is celebrated by throwing, applying of colored water and powders on friends and family.
The festival of Holi is associated with many different stories. Our favorite is the love story between Lord Krishna and Radha, According to legend, the young Krishna complained to his mother Yashoda about why Radha had a fair complexion and his was so dark. Yashoda advised him to apply color powder on Radha's face and see how her complexion would change.
Holi is celebrated world wide including here in New York City. Fellow female entrepreneur Megha Kalia of NYC Bhangra Dance Company & School organizes one of our favorite free Holi events, on Sunday, April 30th, 2016. Find out more here: https://www.facebook.com/events/476140212578691/

Finding our second location for Desi Galli was a difficult task. It took us over a year and visited at least 24 rental spaces all over Manhattan before we found our hidden gem in East Village. Three main criteria for our new restaurant: open kitchen, dining area on the same floor and young professional demographic. We found all 3 in this space.
The approach for Desi Galli to steer away from what people would expect of an Indian restaurant. We as owners are energetic, stylish, and young, with an edgy flare and so is the new Desi Galli. The second location has a mix of high and low elements throughout the space using cement, marble, steel, crystals and pops of metallic as well as clean lines and contrast when it came to art choices and textures. There is a nod to India, but it will not be so literal.
Take a look inside the space before the renovations started.
Please share your thoughts in the comments. We want to know what you think of our second space.
